Walter Laverne Peterson

Olean – Walter L. Peterson "Loving Father & Grandfather" Walter L. Peterson, formerly of 659 Seneca Avenue, passed away on Friday, December 18, 2020, at the Bradford Manor, following a lengthy illness. Walter was born on November 29, 1928 in Wirt and was a son of Jesse A. and Hettie Harris Peterson. On April 7, 1956, in Bradford, PA, he married his wife of 64 years, Barbara K. Parks, who predeceased him on July 9, 2020. Walter was a 1949 graduate of Richburg High School. He served in the US Army from November 13, 1950 to November 12, 1952. Walter worked as an impregnator at ACME in Cuba and Allegany, until his retirement after 48 years. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Christian Assembly. Walter enjoyed riding motorcycles, participating in dice runs, building and carpentry work, and going hunting, but he especially loved spending time chatting and reminiscing with family and friends. Walter is survived by; 3 children, the Rev. Robert Stanley (Hope) Parks of Lakeland, FL, Terry (Kathy Clark) Peterson, and Denise (Dennis) Turner both of Olean; 18 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; 3 sisters, Dolores Clemons of Baltimore, MD, Audrey Gayton, and Gloria (William) Clemons both of Olean; a brother, Jesse (Delores) Peterson of Piscataway, NJ; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Along with his loving wife, Walter was predeceased by, his siblings, Gertrude Peterson, Marlene (Robert) Childs, and William Peterson. A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at 1:30 pm at the Mt. View Cemetery Veteran's Field of Honor in Olean.
