Shirley M. ANZIVINE, 95, of Olean, NY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at The Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Olean. Shirley was born at home on July 17, 1931, in Keating, McKean County, PA.
She was the daughter of Leonard DeForest and Maude E. Williamson Burdick. On September 1, 1956, in The First Baptist Church, Ulysses, PA, she married Alfred R. Anzivine, who predeceased her on February 24, 2000. A graduate of Genesee High School, she attended business school in Olean. She was employed as a bookkeeper with Van der Horst Corp. in Olean and later owned and operated a gift shop. More than anything, Shirley was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her greatest joy was being surrounded by her family. In earlier years, Sunday dinners at “Gram’s” was a cherished tradition, bringing generations together around her table to share meals, laughter, and lasting memories. She had an incredible eye for decorating and took great pride in making her home warm and welcoming, lovingly changing her décor with each passing season. Her kindness, creativity, and the love she poured into her family will be remembered always.
She will be deeply missed and loved forever. Surviving are: four sons, Lawrence “Larry” Alfred (Wanda) Anzivine of Bemus Point, Lance Thomas (Patty Jo) Anzivine of New Tripoli, PA, Leonard James (Kay) Anzivine of Olean, and Lee Richard (Lynn Marie) Anzivine of Allegany; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Leonard “Butch” Burdick, Jr. of Genesee; two sisters, Linda (David) Chamberlain of Genesee and Erma (Dennis) Matteson of Genesee; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Laurie A. Ogle; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Anzivine; three sisters, Patricia B. Solis, Helen VanEtten, and Pauline “Polly” Morley; and a brother, Robert A. Burdick.
