Hinsdale- Rosabell I. “Rosie” Hamilton “Beloved Mother, Sister, Aunt & Grandmother”

Rosabell I. Hamilton of Hinsdale went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 15, 2026 surrounded by her loving family.

Rosabell was born May 23, 1931, in Sardinia to the late Monroe B. and Rosabell Hamilton Bishop Sr. who moved to Hinsdale in 1932.

On February 10, 1949, she married Guy E. Hamilton Jr. who predeceased her on November 25, 1976. They lived on Hamilton Hill in Cuba, until they bought a larger farm in Black Creek in 1969. As a young woman, Rosabell worked at her parents’ restaurant in Olean and later in Cuba. She also worked at Acme Electric and then at the Cuba Laundromat from 1960-1969.

Rosie was a member of the Hinsdale United Methodist Church which she attended as a child and for several years after she moved back to Hinsdale in 2010. She enjoyed volunteering for many years at the Hinsdale Ischua food pantry. Rosie was also a member of the Hinsdale Guy & Gals Club.

She is survived by; her daughter, Sue Shedlock (Randy Smith) of Murray KY; daughter in law, Pearl Hamilton of Black Creek; sons Kevin (Cathy) Hamilton of Friendship and Martin (CJ) Hamilton of Towanda, PA; her grandchildren, Bridget (Gail) Hamilton of Grand Island, Brandon (Teri) Hamilton of Indiana, Brian (Angela) Hamilton of Grand Island, Nikki (Karl) Linderman of Virginia Beach VA, Yvonne (Mark) Fleischman of Williamsburg VA, Carol (Tim) Fisk of Bolivar, Kevin Eric (Jaree) Hamilton of Rimrock, AZ, and Mike (Nancy) Shedlock of Almond; 17 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by; her son Byron Hamilton, April 1, 2020, brothers Richard, Eugene and Monroe Bishop, sisters Hazel (David) Dutton and Genevieve (Sam) Russell and her best friend of 12 years Norm Case, January 28, 2022.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Black Creek Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, 646 E. State Street, Olean, NY 14760. Online condolences may be made at www.letromcintoshspinkfuneralhome.com
