Olean- Ronald L. Gross “Loving Husband, Father & Grandfather”
Ronald L. Gross, passed away on Friday, May 12, 2023 at the Olean General Hospital surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Ron was born on July 30, 1937 in Olean and was the son of Fred O. and Hattie E. Rader Gross. On October 6, 1956 at the Olean First Baptist Church he married his wife of 66 years, Marlyn R. Doty who survives.
Ron was a class of 1955 graduate of Portville Central School. He began working at American Olean Tile in 1955 and retired in 1999 after 44 years. Ron delivered meals on wheels for over 10 years.
Ron was a lifetime member of the Knapp Creek Fire Department. Ron loved fishing trips with his brothers and sons, sitting on his front porch with his wife and dog Rader. He loved playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ron liked walking in the woods especially up on Rock City Hill and riding side by sides at his son Rogers property. He enjoyed watching high school basketball and NASCAR and listening to country music. Ron always looked forward to family vacations on the beach. One of Ron’s greatest joys in life was being a Great Papa.
Along with his loving wife Marlyn, Ron is survived by; 3 children, Ronald L. (Patricia) Gross Jr., Lorraine G. (Jerry) Nenno both of Olean, and Roger M. (Michele) Gross of West Clarksville; 5 grandchildren, Catherine (Kyle) Gross, Matthew (Alicia) Gross, Jessica (Bryan) Laverty, Jamie (Todd) Negrych and Kristine (Ben Herne) Gross; 7 great grandchildren, Payton, Alaina, Brayden, Evan, Hunter, Nolan and Owen; 4 sisters, Annie Colicco, Bonnie Pascucci, Debbie Hemphil and Cindy Johnston; and 4 brothers, Doug, Fred, Joe and Mark Gross.
Ron was predeceased by; his parents and 2 brothers, George and Jim Gross.
Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., on Monday, May 15, 2023 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm, where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at 10:00am. The Rec. Terry L. Jenks, pastor of Maplehurst Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.letromcintoshspinkfuneralhome.com
