Olean- Rochelle Theresa "Rocky" Baire “Loving Wife, Mother & Grandmother”
Rochelle T. "Rocky" Baire of N. 3rd Street passed away on Monday, November 13, 2023.
Rocky was born on July 21, 1934, in Olean and was the daughter of Joseph and Josephine Nohra Moses. On May 12, 1956, at St. Joseph’s Church she married Max Joseph Baire, who survives.
Rocky was a 1953 graduate of Olean High School. She formerly worked at Knieser’s women store as a saleslady before getting married. Rocky attended St. Joseph’s Maronite Church and served on the ladies’ auxiliary. She volunteered to run BINGO for 35 years at St. Joseph’s Church. Rocky enjoyed volunteering and working at the church. She was awarded the Layman’s Award for being so dedicated to the church and was also a member of the St. Joseph’s Altar Society.
Rocky enjoyed cooking, baking her famous baklava, card club, going to the casino, and dinner parties with her friends and family. Most of all, Rocky loved being the caregiver for her family.
Beside her loving husband, Rocky is survived by her 8 children: Rose Marie (Joseph) Luzier of Ceres, Joseph (Debra) Baire of Olean, Mark A. (Lori Marino) Baire of Williamsville, Vincent Paul (Tina) Baire of Olean, Rebecca Ann (Gregory) Simms of Jacksonville, FL., Christopher D. Baire and Josephine Ann (Douglas) Peterson both of Olean, and Max Joseph Baire of Cleveland, OH., 26 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 2 surviving in-laws; Carol A. Moses and Frank Kaduc.
Rocky was predeceased by her parents and her 12 siblings: George J. Moses Sr., Moses J. Moses, Julie Joseph, Bertha Moses, Emily Saab, Elia Abdo, Margaret Ehman, Teckla “Daye” Maarsen, Yvonne Harris, Eva Yorke, Lucille (Frank) Kaduc, and Ann Marie Worth.
Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean on Friday, November 17, 2023 from 4:00-7:00pm. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023 beginning with a prayer service at the Funeral Home at 9:30am followed by a 10:00am Mass of Christian Burial at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels.
