Olean- Roberta "Bobbi" A. Stephan

Roberta "Bobbi" A. Stephan, (73) of Olean, NY, passed away on December 19, 2023 following a brief illness.

Bobbi was born March 18, 1950, in Olean, NY and raised in Eldred, PA. She was the daughter of the late Fenton II and Carolyne McGonnell. She was formerly married to Phillip Stephan, Sr. of Allegany.

She is a 1968 graduate of Walsh High School and a 1972 graduate of Penn State University with a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education. Following graduation, she was employed by the Olean YMCA as Women & Girls Director, 1972-1979. Thereafter she was employed by Cattaraugus County BOCES in the Olean School District as an Adaptive Physical Education teacher, retiring in 2008. She was the Olean High School Girls Swim Team coach for many years and later officiated Section 6 High School Swimming & Diving.

Bobbi was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Coudersport, PA

Chapter. For many years she was an avid runner and Master's Competitive Swimmer. She was a voracious reader and an avid fan of the Buffalo Bills, Penn State football, Yankees, Pirates and sports in general.

Bobbi is survived by her loving companion of 26 years, Fred Bailey; two sons, Phillip D.

Stephan, Jr., of Allegany, Paul (Erin) Stephan of Lancaster, PA, grandchildren Andrew Manuel and Emily Stephan; along with Fred's three daughters, Carmela (Paul) Bertrand of Stafford, VA;

Rachel Bailey (Kirk Magnus) of Irving, NY and Jasmine (Matt) Welgoss, of Annandale, VA and grandchildren: Emily, Sydney, Alex, Elijah, Gabrielle & Samantha and 1 great-grandchild, Leo.

Also surviving are three brothers, Fenton III (Deborah) McGonnell of Durham, NC, James McGonnell of Olean, Mark (Joan) McGonnell of Olean, and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, her brother, Christopher in 2022, sister-in-law, Kathy McGonnell in 2022; and a niece, Kelley Lash.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to: Olean Area Exceptional Track & Field Day c/o Catt. Co. BOCES 1825 Windfall Rd. Olean, NY 14760. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
