Olean- Robert Earl “Bob” Redmond Jr.

Robert E. “Bob” Redmond Jr. of Olean Portville Road, formerly of Bradford, passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Olean General Hospital.

Bob was born on September 21, 1957, in Batavia and was son of Robert E. and Rose M. Welsh Redmond Sr. He was formerly married to Jessica L. Hoagland.

Bob was a 1976 graduate of Otto Eldred High School. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1976 where he was active duty for 8 years between the years of 1976 and 1986. During his time in the Marines, he was a Beirut Marine with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit and was with the 1/112th Charlie Company 56th Stryker Brigade 28th Infantry Division. Afterwards he was in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard for 21 years, retiring in December of 2009. Bob earned many awards during his time in the National Guard; including, a Presidential Citation, Jeb Stewart, NYS Medal of Merit, US Army Achievement 2nd Award Silver Clover Leaf, US Army Accommodation, Cold War Award, Global War on Terrorism, Armed Forces Award with Silver Hourglass M Device, Armed Forces Award, Army National Achievement Award, National Defense Award with Bronze Star, and Army Reserve Overseas Ribbon Award.

Bob worked as a handyman doing odd jobs throughout his life. He was a member of the Portville American Legion, Post 814 and was formerly a member of both, the Olean and Bradford American Legion. He enjoyed collecting guns, knives, swords, smithing, and gardening.

Bob is survived by his two children, Terri L. (Jeremy Reed) Hoagland and Michael T. Redmond, both of Bradford, three grandchildren, Levi Reed, Autum Reed, and Nicholas Reed, his siblings: Margaret Redmond of Olean, Michael Redmond of NC., Linda (Tim) Whiteley of Corry, PA., Daniel (Happy) Redmond of Globe, AZ., Tim Redmond of Niagara Falls, Tammy Goldberg of Olean, and Susan Weidner, many nieces and nephews.

Bob was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Lawrence Park.

Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, from 11:00am to 1:00pm at which time the Allegany American Legion Charles Harbel Post 892 Ritual Team will conduct full military honors.
