Olean- Pamela J. Young
March 20, 1952 – June 11, 2026
With profound sadness and endless love, we announce the passing of Pamela J. Young, who entered eternal rest on June 11, 2026, at the age of 74.
Born on March 20, 1952, Pamela was the beloved daughter of the late June (Mitchell) Young and Richard Young. She lived a life defined by love, loyalty, resilience, and an unwavering devotion to her family. While her passing leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who loved her, the impact she made during her life will never be forgotten.
Pamela was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Bradley Young of Hermitage, Tennessee; and her brother, Jeffrey Young of Tampa, Florida.
She is survived by her loving sisters, Kathy (Alfred) Austin of Rushford and Linda (William) McKune of Machias.
She also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews, including Chris (Toni) Austin, Rick (Cathy) Austin; Michael McKune; Jason (Nichole) McKune; Joe (LeAnne) McKune, Jennie (Albert) Andino; Amber Arden; Terry & Jon Dill; along with numerous other extended family members whom she loved dearly.
Pamela’s proudest accomplishment and greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Heather (Toby) Long, and her cherished grandson, Jake Long, who was truly the center of her world. If you knew Pamela, you knew there was nothing she loved more than talking about Jake. She celebrated every milestone, every accomplishment, and every moment she could spend with him. Being his grandmother was not simply a role she held — it was one of the greatest honors of her life.
Pamela spent many years working at Ontario Knife Factory in Franklinville, where she worked alongside lifetime friends and family. She treasured those friendships, the memories they created together, and the pride that came from a hard day’s work.
To know Pamela was to love her. She possessed a rare kind of kindness that made people feel seen, welcomed, and cared for. She was generous with her heart, and her love. She could always be counted on to lend an ear, offer support, or show up when someone needed her most. Her quick wit, infectious sense of humor, and unmistakable personality will be remembered just as fondly as her kindness. Her compassion touched countless lives, and the world is better for having had her in it.
Pamela was a proud Western New Yorker through and through and an unwavering fan of the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres. Through every season, every victory, and every heartbreak, she remained loyal to her teams. Her family finds comfort in imagining that she has now taken her fandom to Heaven, where she can finally pull some strings and help make sure the Bills bring a Super Bowl championship home to Buffalo.
The final chapter of Pamela’s life was marked by extraordinary courage. Over the last year, she battled numerous serious health conditions that would have broken the spirit of many. Yet Pamela refused to quit. Time and time again, she fought through setbacks, hospitalizations, procedures, and challenges with a determination that amazed those who loved her.
She fought because she wasn’t ready to stop making memories, playing cards, and have coffee outings with the people who meant everything to her.
Throughout the last year, her family stood beside her every step of the way, advocating tirelessly, celebrating every victory, and fighting just as hard for every additional day, week, and month they were blessed to share together. The bond was unbreakable, built on a lifetime of love, loyalty, laughter, and unwavering support.
Pamela’s family extends their deepest gratitude to Dr. Cacacho, Dr. Kothari, Dr. Gembusia and the many nurses who cared for her throughout her illness. Their dedication, compassion, and commitment gave Pamela precious additional time with the people she loved most, a gift her family will always treasure.
Though her family is heartbroken by her passing, they find comfort in knowing that her struggles have ended and that she is finally at peace.
Pamela’s family would like everyone who knew her to remember her not for her illness, but for her kindness, her humor, her stubborn determination, her unwavering love for her family, and her lifelong devotion to Buffalo sports. Whether cheering on the Bills and Sabres, celebrating Jacob’s accomplishments, or making those around her laugh, Pamela had a way of leaving an impression that will never fade.
The measure of a life is not found in years alone but in the love left behind. By that measure, Pamela lived a remarkable life.
She was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, coworker, friend, Sabres & Bills fan. But, most importantly, she was deeply loved.
She will be missed every day, remembered every moment, and loved forever.
“If love alone could have saved you, you would have lived forever.”
A private celebration of Pamela’s life will be held by her family at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean. Online condolences may be made at www.letromcintoshspinkfuneralhome.com
