Nancy Ann Timme, also known as ‘Dinty’ by her kids, passed away peacefully on July 15th, 2025, in Olean, NY with her family by her side. Born February 9, 1931, in Olean, NY, she was the daughter of Paul "Booty" and Ruth (Baker) Forrest. Nancy was a 1948 graduate of Olean High School. On July 30, 1949, at St. Mary of the Angels Church in Olean, she married Maynard William Timme her beloved husband of 60 years prior to his death in 2009.

Nancy was an active member of the community and found joy in her hobbies. She enjoyed golfing at St. Bonaventure Golf course and skiing at Ski Wing Hollow where she was the chaperone for the Olean grade school ski program. She was a local West End ladies card club member and a Cub Scout den mother. Nancy also expressed her creativity as an accomplished artist, holding the position of sketch artist/illustrator for her high school yearbook and later did various paintings, including a replica of Van Gogh’s Sunflowers. She led her neighborhood annual March of Dimes fundraiser and was the campaign manager for her husband’s elected local government positions in both Olean and Cattaraugus County. She was an avid St. Bonaventure Men's Basketball fan, a dedicated Buffalo Bills supporter and could be found each fall watching the Baseball World Series. She and Maynard enjoyed entertaining family and friends in the backyard on North 2nd Street, having cookouts and late-night fire pit gatherings under the stars. She made every meal, holiday, family gathering and sleepover extra special. She created lasting memories for those who spend time at the Timme home in Olean. In Ocean City, MD she and Maynard spent 25 years, where they were a go-to-vacation spot for family and friends. Nancy loved the Eastern Shore and could be found taking daily strolls on the beach, collecting colored sea glass along the way.

In her professional life, Nancy worked at the Olean Stratton Hotel, Olean Telephone Company, Reed’s Jewelers, Bookkeeper for The Palace Cafe, Olean Hallmark Gift Store, Ocean Regency in Ocean City, MD, and Fifth Avenue Jewelers in Rehoboth, DE.

She and Maynard enjoyed traveling to see their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as well as multiple trips across Europe, the Middle East and the Caribbean. One highlight for Nancy was making a Navy Tiger Cruise from Hawaii to San Diego onboard the USS Abraham Lincoln with her son Mark who was a Navy Pilot. In her later years she resided on the West Branch Road in Allegany with the Hastings Family. In her final years she spent time at Eden Heights, Field of Dreams, and The Pines where she was loved and cared for by many wonderful staff. She always enjoyed asking people where they were from and she frequently replied to various comments with an “I’ll Drink To That!”. And yes, she loved her chocolate!

Her devout quiet faith guided her throughout her life. She was a parishioner of the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels and was involved in volunteering for various activities and events such as the annual Parish Spring Festival, Bake Sales, and Summer Religious Camp for Kids.

Nancy dedicated herself to her large, loving, close-knit family and leaves behind a long-lasting legacy. She is survived by 9 of her 10 children:; Patrick (Joann) Timme of East Berne, NY; David (Linda) Timme of Crisfield, MD; Barbara (David) Hastings, Allegany, NY; Stephen Timme of Moreno Valley, CA; Joseph (Veena) Timme of Coral Springs, FL; Susan (Thomas) Dolan of Fort Myers, FL; Mark (Jessica) Timme of Norfolk, VA; Marianne (Paul) Lemmers of Lancaster, PA; and Christine (Michael) Zuraw of Mesa, AZ. Nancy is survived by her 33 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. And of course, all of them are her “Favorites”. She is also survived by her siblings: Sally Donnellan, Paul Forrest, Terry (Marsha) Forrest, Kathleen (Robert) Close, Sharon (Quido “Butch”) Ramire, Thomas (Brenda) Forrest and many nieces and nephews, including her godchild Marjorie Meiers Proto.

In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by a brother Francis "Gundy" Forrest, and recently in 2025 her oldest son Michael Timme (Carolyn Breda) of Nashville, TN.

Nancy will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. May her memory be a blessing and reminder to treat others with kindness.
