Pittsford- Nancy Jane (Waehner) Polmateer
Nancy J. Polmateer, 84, passed away at home on Sunday, June 21, 2026, after a brief illness.
Nancy was born on June 30, 1941, in Ridley Park, Philadelphia, PA and was the daughter of Herman and Dortha McFeaters Waehner. She was married to Kermit Hendrickson who predeceased her in 2003. Nancy then married Stanley Polmateer who survives.
Nancy’s family moved to Harrison Valley, PA when she was a young child. She attended school there until moving to Olean for her senior year of high school. Nancy graduated from Olean High School in 1959. She earned a bachelor’s degree in 1995 from Empire State College. Nancy Moved to Rochester in 2007 following her marriage to Stanley.
Nancy was a true servant to others, putting others before herself in both her professional and personal life. She served as a mental health caseworker, eldercare provider and a HUD board member. Nancy worshiped at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Olean and later at Pinnacle Lutheran Church in Rochester. She served in the choir, women’s ministry, and Sunday School. Among Nancy’s favorite activities were spending time with her family and friends. She also loved spending time at the beach and enjoyed witnessing anything beautiful.
Along with her loving husband, Stanley, Nancy is survived by; her daughter, Rebecca (Stephen) Hendrickson Sue and her beloved grandson David Sue; her stepchildren, Wayne Hendrickson, Yvette (Daniel) Button, and Greg (Beth) Polmateer; a step grandson, Micah Probola-Polmateer and several nieces and nephews.
Nancy was predeceased by; her parents; her first husband, Kermit Hendrickson; and her brothers, Ken (Cathy) Waehner and Robert (Jean) Waehner.
Friends will be received at the Pinnacle Lutheran Church, 250 Pinnacle Road, Rochester, NY on Thursday, June 25, 2026 from 11:00am to 12:00pm at which time a funeral service will be held. A luncheon will follow at the church. Burial will be held at Mount View Cemetery, Olean. Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean.
