Olean- Nancy A. Clute “Loving Mother, Grandmother & Sister”

Nancy A. Clute, formerly of 954 North Union Street, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at The Pines Health & Rehab, following a short illness.

 Nancy was born February 6, 1940 in Olean and was the daughter of Freeman T. and Edna B. Newberry Hitchcock. On February 8, 1958 at the Wesleyan Methodist Church in Olean, she married Russell W. Clute who predeceased her on June 27, 2021.

 Nancy was a homemaker and along with her husband, volunteered for Meals on Wheels for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, scrapbooking, genealogy, collecting antiques, and dancing at the St. Stephen's Club. 

 Nancy and her husband enjoyed extensive traveling in the US, including Alaska and Hawaii. They spent much of their time at their summer cottage in Franklinville and enjoyed entertaining family and friends. In earlier years, Nancy and Russell spent a lot of time on their Harley motorcycle.

 At the Pines it didn’t take long for the staff to notice Nancy loved bright colors, fancy jewelry and getting her nails done, listening to music, playing bingo, crafts and playing go fish. She was known to all as “Fancy Nancy”. Nancy looked forward to visits from family, her niece Jane and her fur baby, Bella took her on many outings. 

 Nancy is survived by; 3 children, Stephen G. (Christine) Clute and Wesley W. Clute both of Cuba, and Christina M. (Mike Chew) Euston of Olean; 4 grandchildren, Ryan, Bryan, Amber, & Taylor whom she adored; several great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Roy Hitchcock of Allegany and Larry (Marina) Hitchcock of Gouldsboro, PA; a special niece, Jane (Dave Beverly) Freeman, of Florida; a special nephew Bobby “Grover” Cleveland; 

 Along with her loving husband, Russell, Nancy was predeceased by; a son, Kevin L. Clute on November 28, 2012; a sister, Joanne Crawford; and two brothers, Gary Hitchcock and Bruce Hitchcock. 

 There will be no services at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held at a date and time to be announced. Burial will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Olean. Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 East State Street, Olean. Online condolences may be made at www.LetroMcIntoshSpinkFuneralHome.com
