Olean- Maxine Carolyn Amore Miller Lucas
Maxine Miller Lucas, 83, of 133 N. 18th Street, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 6, 2023 at the Cuba Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Maxine was born on March 2, 1940 in Olean and was the daughter of George and Janet Amore. On June 11, 1960 she married Bernard C. Miller who predeceased her on May 7, 2009. On December 28, 2013 she married Clifford Lucas who survives.
Maxine was a 1957 graduate of Olean High School. She continued her education at Weaver Airline Personnel School. Maxine was employed at the Olean Theater as a secretary at Acme Electric Corp., and made her career at the Olean Medical Group where she retired as a medical accounts supervisor.
Maxine was active in the community. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. For several years she enjoyed singing with the Silvertones, a group created by Senior League. They sang all the golden oldies and hymns at nursing homes, daycares, wellness groups, community affairs and wherever they were invited to sing. Maxine was a loyal volunteer wherever there was need. She also found time for reading, needlework, crafts, Senior Citizens, computer games and traveling near and far.
Along with her loving husband Clifford, Maxine is survived by; her sister, Marsha Reynolds; her niece, Sheryl Reynolds and her nephew, Daniel Reynolds all of League City, TX and many members of the Lucas family, including her step daughters; Heidi (Jeff) Cleveland and Jenny Lucas.
