Salamanca – Mary Ann Hathaway "Loving Mother, Grandmother, & Sister" Mary Ann Hathaway, of 451 Broad Street, passed away on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at the Olean General Hospital, following a lengthy illness. Mary was born on October 3, 1956 in Bradford, PA and was a daughter of Leon G. and Dorothy M. Turner Goodell. She was formerly married to Frederick Smith. On July 4, 1987 in Olean, Mary married her husband of 29 years, Alfred "Dennis" Hathaway, who predeceased her. Mary worked as a self-employed caretaker, taking care of elderly people in their homes for many years. She enjoyed fishing and relaxing outside. Mary loved music and gardening. She will be remembered as a very, very loving and giving person, who loved her family "to a T." Mary is survived by; 2 children, Vickie M. Shelley of Cuba, who passed away on April 15, 2021 and LeRoy L. Smith of Beacon; 13 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and 3 siblings, Michael C. (Patti) Smith, Betty J. Grayson of Buckeye, AZ, and Bonnie L. Hess of Olean. Along with her husband, Mary was predeceased by, her father, Leon G. Goodell in 1966, her mother, Dorothy M. Goodell on November 3, 2004, a son, Gary Lee Smith on February 10, 2004, and 2 infant twins in 1968. A Memorial Gathering will be held at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 East State Street, Olean, on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
