Olean- Lucy S. Dennis “Loving Mother, Grandmother & Sister”

Lucy S. Dennis, 76, of Bolivar, passed away on October 26, 2026, peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, following a lengthy illness.

Lucy was born on February 22, 1950, in Olean, New York. She was the daughter of Richard “Dick” Borden and Harriette “Bubbles” Miller Borden.

Lucy attended school in Portville and proudly earned her GED in 1998, an accomplishment she cherished.

On December 10, 1969, Lucy married the love of her life, Joe R. Dennis. Together, they shared a life filled with love, family, and treasured memories.

She also loved diamond painting, quilting, crocheting, and, above all, spending time with family. These activities brought her great joy and created memories her family will treasure for generations.

Lucy leaves behind her beloved children, Billie Jo Bender, Mark (Cindy) Borden, and Tonya (Ryan) Thur; her brother, Buster (Wanda) Borden; her sisters, Linda Borden and Janet Seeley; and her special niece, Kathy Karnuth, whom she loved and raised as her own.

She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Desireé Bender, Domenic Bender, Daniel Bender, Devon Bender, Kelly Bender, Lucinda Borden, Savannah Borden, Nick Elwell, Justin Steere, Kayla Miller, Dakota Dennis, Alexandria Thur, Chloe Thur, Austin Babb, and Randy Babb III; and her beloved great-grandchildren: Lucy, Charles, Erik, Anjel, Bella, Brayden, Coda, Brantley, Alaina, and Robert.

Lucy was preceded in death by her husband, Joe R. Dennis; her parents, Richard and Harriette Miller Borden; her daughter, Lisa Babb; her brother, Chuck Burdick; her sister, Rose Green; her sons-in-law, Vincenzo “Jim” Bender and Randy Babb; her sister-in-law, Karen Burdick; and her brother-in-law, Ray Seeley.

Lucy will be remembered for her love of family, her generous heart, her cherished traditions, and the special place she held in the lives of those who knew and loved her. The memories she created and the love she shared will live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
