Salamanca- Lawrence William Ryan “Loving Father & Brother”
Lawrence W. Ryan of 451 Broad Street passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2025.
Larry was born on December 4, 1934, in Olean and was the son of George “Gunner” and Mary Elizabeth Reilly Ryan. On May 5, 1986, in Olean, he married Mary A. Willard, who survives.
Larry was a 1952 graduate of Olean High School. He served in the US Army from October 29, 1952 to October 28, 1955. Larry was very athletic and even played baseball and football for the Korean National Teams as well as boxed during his time in the Army. He worked as a roofer for a number of places including Peterson and Mazza roofing. He later went to work for Olean Union Sales until he retired in the late 1980s or early 90s. He enjoyed fishing, music, playing drums, and singing, where he sang in Barber Shops.
Larry is survived by his five children: Jerimiah J. Willard-Ryan, Daniel P. Ryan, Michael G. McNamara, Brittany J. Ryan, and Cody M. Ryan, all of Olean, seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and three siblings: Ronald M. (Rita) Williams of Allegany, James (Erma) Renwick of Round Rock, TX., and Susan (Francis) LeBerth of Rochester.
Larry was predeceased by his parents and a brother Thomas.
A graveside service will be held at St. Bonaventure Cemetery on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 11:00am beginning with full military honors accorded by the Allegany American Legion Charles Harbel Post 892 ritual team. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to his brother, Ronald Ryan at 23 Elm Street Allegany, NY 14706 to help with Cemetery and Burial expenses.
