Hinsdale- Jon A. Williams

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jon A Williams of Hinsdale, formerly of Lockport, and Port Allegany, PA, from side-effects of Asbestosis, which he acquired at Pittsburgh Corning Corporation while making rolled pipe insulation. He worked there during the summers of 1966 and 1967 while attending college at Clarion University of Pennsylvania.

Jon was born in Buffalo, the son of Ronald and Muriel Harmon Williams. He was a graduate of Port Allegany High School, Class of 1965. He acquired his BA in Communication and Media Studies from SUNY Empire. At age 38, he received his MA in Speech, Communications and Rhetoric from the University of Buffalo. For 32 years he was a professor of Speech and Interpersonal Relationships at Niagara County Community College and was much respected by his students and colleagues.

On April 26, 2019, in Niagara Falls he married his soulmate, Paula Gramse. They enjoyed living life and had many wonderful adventures until illness sidelined him.

Prior to completing his education, Jon worked at Jones Chemical Company in Caledonia, as a home delivery driver for Jewel Tea and in Public Relations at Olean General Hospital. Jon coached soccer for several years at NCCC where he also coached Ladies Softball for a time. Jon was a man of many interests. He was a HUGE Buffalo Bills and Sabers fan. He and Paula faithfully followed the Casper Troopers Drum and Bugle Core. He was a member of the Buffalo Museum of Science. He was very knowledgeable in Astronomy, using his telescope to admire the heavens. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed RV camping, kayaking, biking, hiking and anything nature related. He was computer and web savvy. His photography skills were remarkable. Jon will long be remembered as a caring, sentimental, animal loving, funny guy.

In addition to his beloved wife, Paula, Jon is survived by his sons Jared (Laurie) Williams of NC, Brendan (Jessie) Williams of GA and Evan Williams of OH, daughter Rachel (Graham) LaMonte of CO, step-daughters Trisha (Matt) Lizak of AZ, Cindy France of NY and grandsons Joshua and Jackson Williams also of NC and Trevor Lizak and granddaughter Madisyn Lizak also of AZ, sister Ronni (John) Plummer of NC and best friend Jeff Golden of NY, many favorite nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. He also left behind his sweet fur-babies Cookie and Snickers and Blue-Crown Conure, Snuggle.

Jon was preceded in death by; his parents; infant brother, Bobby; sisters Sally Kennedy, and Carolyn Corbin. Jon also deeply missed his cherished pets Abby, Callie, and Milo, who was ringbearer at his and Paula’s wedding.

There will be no visitation. Honoring his wishes, no formal services will be held. A Celebration of Life (or, as Jon liked to call it, his Going Away Party) will be held later at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers or other memorials, please consider contributing to his GoFundMe account to help defray the exorbitant cost of his medical bills and other expenses. https://gofund.me/d9b39a4a3 Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E.
