Weston Mills- Geraldine Susan Hunt (Volz/Seymour) “Mom, Gerry Sue, Gigi, or Bubbles”

“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10.

Geraldine Susan Hunt, 85, of Weston Mills, passed away on October 1, 2025. Geraldine was born in Olean, on September 27, 1940, the youngest of nine children of John and Nellie Keller Volz.

Geraldine had a deep and unwavering faith in the Lord, which guided her throughout her life. Even in times of hardship, her trust in God never faltered. After losing her mother at the age of ten, Geraldine often prayed that the Lord would help her become a good mother herself. She fulfilled that prayer beautifully. While she would say that no one is perfect, to those who loved her, she came remarkably close.

Having grown up in Olean, Geraldine carried with her many stories of her hometown and her childhood adventures. One of her favorites to share was the time she tumbled down the flour chute at Stroehmann’s Bakery. She attended baseball games at Bradner’s Stadium with her dad to watch the farm teams play. Geraldine was also a lifelong Buffalo Bills and Chicago Cubs fan. (Go Bills!)

Her children, Kathi and Aaron, never had to worry about people knowing who they were, as Geraldine could often be heard cheering at school events with her trademark call: “Go, Seymour!”

Geraldine pursued her education at Prairie Bible Institute in Three Hills, Alberta, Canada. She later returned there with her first husband, Fred, who then attended the school as well, and it was during that time that they became a family of four.

In later years, Geraldine loved to travel with her second husband, Carl. Together they drove cross-country to visit Aunt Dot in California, down to Florida to see family, through Tennessee, and even back to Canada—where Geraldine delighted in showing Carl the places she had once known and attending a reunion at Prairie Bible Institute.

Geraldine is survived by her beloved husband, Carl Hunt. Whenever Carl entered a room, Geraldine’s face lit up with happiness, a joy she carried with her until her final day. She often told others how blessed she felt to have Carl in her life, saying, “I thank God every day for him.”

She is also survived by her daughter, Katherine “Kathi” Seymour; son, Aaron (Tiffany) Seymour; stepsons, Rick (Yvonne) Hunt and Randall (Karen) Hunt; and stepdaughter, Kathy Sickels. Geraldine leaves behind a large and loving extended family of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, too numerous to list by name but each deeply cherished.

Geraldine is further survived by her sister, Dorothy (Richard) Robbins of California. The sisters remained close throughout the years, often enjoying long, laughter-filled phone calls. The family fondly joked that Aunt Dot was responsible for most of the “conversations” they shared.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Frederic Edward Seymour, Jr.; her sisters, Elizabeth “Betty” Benjamin and Nancy Volz; and her brothers, John Volz, Stanley Volz, Frank Volz, Ralph Volz, and David Volz.

It was Geraldine’s wish that there be no viewing or formal funeral service, and her burial will be private. However, the family will honor her life with a “Celebration of Life,” to be held at Olean Community Church with Pastor Bryan Garrett officiating. The date and time will be announced at a later time. Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean. Online condolences may be made at www.letromcintoshspinkfuneralhome.com

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the caring staff of The Spink Funeral Home in Olean. Their guidance and support during this difficult time have been invaluable. The family is thankful for their heartfelt gratitude to the associates at Olean General Hospital and The Pines for their compassionate care and attentive support.

Geraldine requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be mailed to Olean Community Church in her name. Address: 145 S 26th St., Olean, NY 14760.
