Frederick Joseph Joseph, Jr. passed away unexpectedly at his home on Valley Rd on Saturday, September 19th 2026.

Frederick was born January 12, 1957, in Bellefonte, PA to the late Frederick and Frances (Proffitt) Joseph, Sr.

Music became Freddie’s defining passion in life. His childhood idols, Buddy Rich and Ringo Star inspired him to pick up the drumsticks, and he never put them down. Over the course of his musical journey, Fred became a renowned and prolific drummer, driving the heartbeat of countless bands with skill, professionalism, and love. He possessed an impressive ability to play by ear in any genre and was extremely well regarded by his fellow musicians. Fred remained active in the local music scene right until the time of his passing. Freddie’s love of music extended beyond performance as an avid collector of cymbals, snares, drumsticks, and memorabilia. He was also a knowledgeable enthusiast of history, pop culture and railroads. As a member of the WNY Railroad Historical Society, Fred studied the history of railroad lines and recently enjoyed touring the historical Union Pacific “Big Boy” locomotive. Fred lived with his beloved domestic partner, Carol Gugino, with whom he enjoyed quiet times, leisure, and travel. From bicycling along the rail trails of WNY and PA, to the wineries of the Finger Lakes and extensive travels all over Europe and beyond, Fred and Carol shared an active and adventurous lifestyle.

Fred is survived by his two children; Bridget Joseph and Frederick Joseph III and five grandchildren; Lillie, Casey, Roman, Sawyer and Chase to whom he was a loving father and grandfather. His annual visits meant the world Fred, his daughter Bridget and his grandsons. He is also survived by his siblings; James Joseph and Anne Grimaldi as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Fred is predeceased by his parents and sister Mary.

A private family viewing was held on Tuesday, September 22, 2026. Internment and a Celebration of Life are being planned and will be posted shortly.
