Cuba – Eugene J. Lijewski “A strong believer in Christ”

Eugene J. Lijewski of Rawson Road passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at the Olean General Hospital following an illness.

Eugene was born on October 5, 1936, in Buffalo and was the son of Michael and Veronica A. Flasza Lijewski.  In 1963 in Buffalo, he married his loving wife of 60 years, Bernadine T. Olejniczak who survives.

Eugene served in the US Army from 1960 to 1962. While in the service he was stationed in Fort Dix, New Jersey and Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri as a building engineer. After the services he began working for Ford Motor Company in Buffalo in 1963.  He retired in 1995 after 32 years.

Eugene enjoyed being outdoors and building things but most of all he loved his family who he truly enjoyed spending time with.  Eugene will be remembered as a man with a very strong belief and faith and enjoyed sharing it with others.

Along with his wife, Bernadine, Eugene is survived by; 2 daughters, Janice B. Lijewski of Cuba and Julie M. (Rev. David) Delafield of Wayland and 3 grandchildren, Jenny, Joshua and Anna Delafield.      

Eugene was predeceased by; his parents and 5 siblings, Irene, Silvia, Al, Dan and Ray.

Friends will be received on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Genesee Pkwy, from 1:00pm to 2:00pm at which time funeral services will be held.  His son-in-law Rev. David S. Delafield will officiate.  Burial will be in the Rawson Cemetery.  Online condolences may be made at www.LetroMcIntoshSpinkFuneralHome.com.
