Allegany- Emma Lou Granger

Emma Lou Granger of 1664 Allegany Street, passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at the Pines Health and Rehab Center in Olean, following an illness.

Emma was born July 7, 1934 in Olean and was the daughter of Clement W. and Florence A. Wiseman Forness.  In 1955 she married the love of her life Robert L. Granger who predeceased her on May 25, 2016.

Emma was a 1952 graduate of Olean High School.  She worked at Olean Phone Company as a switchboard operator for a period of time in the 1960’s.  Emma also worked as a home health aid in the 1980’s.  She was a member of St. Bonaventure Church Parish and she was a active member of both the Allegany Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the Allegany American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

Emma enjoyed making stained glass, sewing, and quilting.  She also enjoyed camping and being around the water.  Emma and her husband were snowbirds who spent their winters in Webster, FL.

Emma is survived by; 2 children, Robert L. Granger of Olean and Kelly J. Granger of Nashville, TN; 7 grandchildren, Kate (Nick) Drum, Julia (Randall) Kyser, Paige (Brandon Anderson) Himes, Allex (Vernon Rodriguez) Granger, Madison Granger, Joey Williams, and Gillian (Cody Norman) Williams; a sister-in-law, Charlene Granger of Olean and several nieces and nephews.

Along with her husband Robert, Emma was predeceased by; her parents; 2 daughters, Linnae M. Nicholas on June 18, 2008, and Aimie R. Granger on June 22, 2021; 3 brothers, John, Bruce and Robert Forness; and her dog Buster.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at 10:00 am at the St. Bonaventure Parish, 95 E Main St, Allegany.  Father Michael Rayis will officiate.  Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
