Alby DeLong

Hinsdale- Duane I. “Alby” DeLong 

 Duane I.” Alby” DeLong of 3111 Pennsylvania Ave passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at his home. 

 Alby was born June 25, 1949 in Olean and was the son of Lester E. and Lucy A. Rice DeLong.

 Alby was a lifelong resident of the Olean area. He attended Olean High School. Alby worked as a mechanist at Vanderhorst and he worked as an automobile repairman. He owned and operated his own shop for a period of time before working as a furnace repair man and plumber. After his retirement he would do odd jobs and plowing. 

 Alby formerly attended the Olean First Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Hinsdale American Legion. 

 Alby is survived by; 2 children, Dustin DeLong and Brandice Rae DeLong-Bales; 4 stepchildren, Bill E. (Taunya) Best, John M. Best, Tracy L. (John) Peters, and Paula J. (Bill) Teuscher; a brother, Eugene L. (Mary) DeLong; and a nephew, Timothy G. DeLong. 

 Alby was predeceased by; his parents, and his longtime companion, Gloria D. Best of over 40 years who predeceased him on July 4, 2022, and a stepson, Jim Best.

Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at which time a memorial service will be held.
