Allegany- Carole A. Sandburg

Carole Sandburg of South Nine Mile Road passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at the Cuba Skilled Nursing Facility.

Carole was born November 21, 1942, in Johnstown, PA and was the daughter of Howard and Norene Epply Kane. She was formerly married to David W. Sandburg.

Carole was a 1960 graduate of Allegany Central School. She worked at St. Bonaventure University after graduation for 5 years. Carole also worked at the Castle for a number of years, Joseph Dwyer as a Legal Assistant from 1984 to 1992, Sharky & William Law Office from 1992 to 1998, then Williams & Associate from 1998 to 2003. Carol then worked at the Public Defenders Office of Cattaraugus County until retiring in 2007. She worked several parttime for the county after retirement, she then started working for the board of election as an election inspector.

Carole attended St. Bonaventure Church where she was a Greater & Unionistic Minister. She was a member of the 60 Plus of Allegany. Carole enjoyed gardening, baking, sewing and knitting.

Carole is survived by; her son, Timothy (Ronda) Sandburg of Haltom City, TX; and 3 granddaughters, Sydney, Tatum Of Ft Worth, Tx; and Alyssa of Marble Fall, Tx; and 1 great-grandson Waylon Graham and a brother, Philip G. Garretson of Highland Beach, FL.

Friends will be received on Thursday, October 8, 2026, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, 646 E. State Street, Olean. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 9, 2026, at 10:00am at St. Bonaventure Church, 95 E Main St, Allegany, NY 14706.
