In her 80's, she served as an election inspector for Cattaraugus County.

When Betty's children began school, she became active in Olean Parent Teacher's Association (PTA) Council, Southwestern District Director and Publicity Chairman. Desiring to serve the community more, she ran twice as a candidate to the Olean Board of Education. Betty became an Honorary Life member of the NYSPTA. When a nationwide Key '73 movement was launched by the Billy Graham Association, Betty was a member of the executive committee responsible for writing weekly articles to the Olean Times Herald on the activities taking place with the combined efforts of churches in Olean, Allegany, Portville and Hinsdale. Betty was talented and passionate about singing since childhood. She sang in the St. Stephen's Episcopal Church choir for many years and occasionally with the Keynote and Community Choruses. Music was a great part of her life. Playing the piano and singing gave her great joy, especially at home around Christmas time with family surrounding the piano singing Christmas carols.

Betty's devotion to Jesus was birthed from childhood. She was committed to praying for others, reading her Bible and Christian literature daily, as well as holding Bible studies in her home.

Betty was especially interested in end-time prophecy and waiting for the return of The Lord.
