Hinsdale- Betty J. Bly “Loving Mother, Grandmother & Great Grandmother”

Betty J. Bly of 2641 Morgan Hollow Road, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2023 at her daughter’s house surrounded by her family.

Betty was born July 15, 1927 in Olean and was the daughter of Norman and Elizabeth Fah Baxter.  On July 23, 1976 in Hinsdale she married the love of her life Robert W. “Bob” Bly who predeceased her on December 24, 2006.

Betty worked at AVX for about 30 plus years and retired in 1989.  She then became the “Ice Cream Lady” at the Hinsdale Central School for about 15 years retiring in 2004 at the age of 77.

Betty was formerly a member of St. Helen Roman Catholic Church and more currently St. John’s Roman Catholic Church.  She was formerly a member of the Hinsdale American Legion Auxiliary.  Betty was a member of the Red Hatters of Hinsdale and the Guys and Gals whom she loved to take road trips with.

Betty enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino, playing scratch offs, going on road trips and was an avid Buffalo Bills fan, but most of all she truly loved her family and her dog Bailey.

Betty is survived by; 3 children, Norman J. (Phyllis) Lagowski of Fulton, Linda S. Giberson and Debra A. (Ron) Hollowell both of Hinsdale and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Along with her loving husband, Bob, Betty was predeceased by; her parents; 5 siblings, Donld Baxter, Lillian Bean, Barbara Wandricke, Shirley Yeomans and Jerry Baxter; a son in law, Jim Giberson and a step great-grandson, Rich Giberson.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St. from 10:00 am to 12:00pm at which time a funeral service will be held.  Deacon Matt Wenke will officiate.
