Olean- Barbara Josephine Metz “Loving Mother, & Mommom”

Barbara J. Metz, 88, of Eden Heights, formerly of Cranberry Court, passed away on Friday, November 28, 2025.

Barbara was born on October 17, 1937, in Philadelphia, PA., and was the daughter of Raymond P. and Alberta M. Miller Guzmon. She was formerly married to Dr. Edward A. Metz.

Barbara was a 1955 graduate of Lincoln High School in Philadelphia, PA. She worked for the Pennsylvania railroad until she started her family. Later she worked for the Port Allegany School District and First National Bank in Port Allegany until her retirement. Barbara was an avid reader, enjoyed participating in Bible Study, and playing card games such as, Skip-bo and Pinochle. She loved going to the beach, but most of all, spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Barbara was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Olean.

Barbara is survived by her three daughters: Donna A. Metz of Laurel, MD., Joanne M. (Harvard Charles “Skip” II) Hitchcock of Olean, and Barbara A. (Clyde) Franklin of Papillion, NE., six grandchildren: Jennifer L. (Patrick) Spicer of Philadelphia, PA., Jamie L. (Dustin) Molyneaux of Cypress, TX., Tyrone C. (Whitney) Franklin of Omaha, NE., Andrea R. (Crist) Lopez of Omaha, NE., Gabrielle M. Franklin of Omaha, NE., and Jackie N. Hitchcock of Olean, and eleven great grandchildren.

Barbara was predeceased by the love of her life for over 30 years, Burton E. Johnson, her parents, a great grandson, Omari Lopez on September 15, 2017, and four siblings: Doris Guzmon, Raymond Guzmon, Alberta Price, and Joan Hibbs.

Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., on Friday, December 5, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church, 6 Leo Moss Drive, Olean on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 10:00 am where the Rev. Kim E. Rossi will officiate.
