Olean- Alfred P. LaFredo Jr. “Retired Olean Fireman”

Alfred P. LaFredo Jr. of The Pines of Olean passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at Olean General Hospital.

Alfred was born on June 28, 1946, in Olean and was the son of Alfred P. and Rose Tokarcik LaFredo Sr.

Alfred graduated from Olean High School in 1965. He retired from the City of Olean Fire Department then went on to complete his part time training to become a police officer. He served as a part time Allegany Police Officer and then with the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Department. Alfred had a combined 50 years of service with the Olean Fire Department, Town of Olean Fire Department, and Ashford Volunteer Fire Department. He was very proud of his service.

In his retirement he enjoyed traveling to see his family, the casino and watching trains.

Alfred is survived by his daughter, Kimberly A. (Billy McClain) Ackerman of Olean and two grandchildren, Clay Ackerman and Brynn Ackermann both of Olean, siblings, Ron (Janet) LaFredo of Hudson, FL., Cecil LaFredo of Cortland, NY., and Jerry (Gayla) LaFredo of Henderson, NV., and several nieces and nephews.

Alfred was predeceased by his parents.
