Cuba – Barbara S. Larson Barbara S. Larson formerly of 249 West Shore Road, passed away on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at the Olean General Hospital following an illness. Barbara was born Oct. 31, 1936, in Olean, and was a daughter of John and Beatrice Emery Scott. On Dec. 28, 1958 she married Donald J. Larson, who survives. Barbara was the Portville Central School Valedictorian for the class of 1954. After high school she continued her education at the BC Alfred University where she obtained her masters degree in guidance counseling at the age of 36. After graduation she became a schoolteacher at the Olean Middle School and High School. Barbara later went to work for Cattaraugus County in Child Protective Services from 1977 to 1992 where she retired after 15 years at the age of 55. Barbara was formerly a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church. She enjoyed traveling, especially in the RV, she and her husband wintered in Florida. Barbara also enjoyed crafts including making blankets, Afghans, Mittens, swimming especially across Cuba Lake. Barbara was very active in her retirement and was always caring for other people before herself. She always had a positive outlook on life and was formerly known as an avid jokester. Along with her loving husband, Donald, Barbara is survived by; 4 children, Diane C. (John) Beckingham of Holly, Daniel J. (Patricia) Larson of Wellsville, Timothy D. (Julie) Larson of Cuba, and Eric D. (Terry Hilliard) Larson of Sheffield, PA; 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, John “Jack” (Lynn) Scott of Lakeland, FL, and Walter (Nancy) Scott of Villages, Fl; a sister, Mary (Bob) Dunham of Bath. Barbara was predeceased by her parents and her step mother Dorothy Ryder Scott. Friends will be received on Saturday, July 17, 2021 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 East State Street, Olean at which time a Funeral Service will be held.
