To many, now in our 60's, john and The Aerovans was our first exposure to live music and also, great live music and great live music in Olean.
And for some of us his music inspired us to try to be musicians too. Doesn't matter whether we were good or bad musicians or even got paid for performing, The Aerovans and all it's members, Butters and the rest, gave us the opportunity to enjoy music.
Thanks John

As we gather to remember Uncle John, let us think about the good times. I can remember countless times as a child being enthralled with Uncle John. He was a master of making silly faces and had the greatest games to play like, "how many saltines with peanut butter can Uncle John stuff in his mouth", or "how many blue cars go by?" and the infamous.. "Pull my finger". He had a way of making you laugh.. even in the darkest of times. He always had a joke and was the best at telling them. Uncle John had a way of wrapping his arms around you and loving the hurt away and then he'd tell you a joke to laugh away the tears. He was an extremely talented musician and I loved to hear him play his guitar. When I was little he would teach me - or try to teach me how to play. It almost always ended up with me sitting on his lap between he and his guitar while he played - and then he would squish me and giggle with me.
Those are just a few memories that I will always hold dear to my heart. I wish I could have been there with you. Please know I am there in spirit. I love you all. -kb

Thank you John for your friendship. My time with The Aerovons was fun, educational and something I wouldn't have missed for anything. Although our communication for the passed many years has been primarily by email it's been wonderful reconnecting and talking about the "good old days". Now, rest easy in the arms of God and we'll be reunited again soon. May God bless Margie and the rest of the family in this difficult time. See you soon.

To John's family,
I am so sorry, John was my cousin and we lost touch when we grew up. Then out of the blue, his brother Bob and I connected through the internet and emailed regularly. All of a sudden, the emails stopped & I learned of Bob's death. I am sorry that I could not have reconnected with John. He was 2 yrs older than me but our birthdays were a day a part. He touched the world with music, he was so talented. Hold your memories close.
